Leadership

Angels on the Water is a Limited Liability Corporation. Members elect the nine to 15 member Board of Directors.

Board of Directors - Fund I

The Board of Directors governs Angels on the Water, approving the organization's budget and contracts, appointing the Investment Committee, overseeing the Fund Manager and setting policies. When the fund closes, members will elect a Board of Directors within 30 days. Until the fund's final closing, a provisional board, comprised of business and community leaders throughout Northeast Wisconsin, will serve. Provisional Board members include:

Investment Committee - Fund I

Angels on the Water's Investment Committee is responsible for choosing and monitoring investments, connecting companies with needed expertise and resources and managing the exit. Investment Committee members will be appointed annually by the Board of Directors. Current Investment Committee members include:

  • Larry Bittner, Director, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, Appleton specializes in tax planning and merger and acquisition support with Baker Tilly Virchow Krause.
  • Ronald Detjen, President, ImproMed, LLC, Oshkosh. ImproMed is a leading developer and provider of business and medical management software for the veterinary industry.
  • Phil Florek, Senior Business Counselor, Small Business Development Center, UW Oshkosh, serves as an Executive in Residence for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, College of Business.
  • Doug Jarmusz, Director, Business Success Center, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, has over 30 years of experience in strategic and tactical performance skills.
  • Gerald Sevick, Member, Senior Consultant & Board Member, Foth & Van Dyke LLC, Green Bay
  • Dr. David J. Ward, CEO/Founder of NorthStar Consulting, Madison, Wisconsin and Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
  • Allan Zeise, President/CEO, ZyQuest, Inc., DePere, Wisconsin, has more than 30 years of experience in information technology.

Fund Investment Advisor - Funds I and II

Angels on the Water's Fund Investment Advisor sources and screens deals.

  • Paul Jones is a proven entrepreneur and angel and institutional venture capital investor. He chairs the Venture Best team at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP where he works primarily with emerging technology-driven companies and their investors. He practiced law in Silicon Valley, working on start-up investment documents and term sheets before moving to Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, one of the nation's premier centers of innovation and entrepreneurial activity. There, he served as president of a start-up company that raised $8 million in venture financing, served as co-founder, angel investor/director and senior executive in several other venture-backed enterprises. He was named Research Triangle Park's Entrepreneur of the Year. He later managed a $26 million venture capital fund.

Fund Administrator - Funds I and II

Appointed by the Board of Directors, the Fund Administrator assists the Fund Investment Advisor with Angels on the Water's day-to-day operations and performs basic legal work for Angels on the Water.

  • Elizabeth Hartman is CEO & General Counsel of Chamco, Inc., Oshkosh's industrial development corporation and an Attorney with Dempsey Law Firm, LLP. In her role with Chamco, Inc., she assists businesses and entrepreneurs with new ventures and expansion projects. In her private practice, she specializes in commercial transactions, representing start-ups and assisting businesses with mergers and acquisitions.
